Does Your Marketing Need a Trojan Horse?

Over 2000 years ago, Odysseus pulled off the greatest security breach in history and broke into the city of Troy, ending a 10 year siege.

Just in case your memory of Greek legend isn’t quite up to speed (hey, no worries, we can’t all be Virgil nerds), here’s a super-quick recap:

Having had no joy gaining entry to Troy by force, Odysseus instructed his soldiers to retreat, leaving behind what looked like a gift from the gods- a huge wooden horse.

Unbeknownst to the Trojans, however, the ‘gift’ they moved within their walls was full of Greeks, who were then able to emerge from the horse under cover of darkness and conquer Troy from within.

But what does all this have to do with your business?

Obviously we’re not saying you should sneak into your customers’ homes in the night (we don’t want to be responsible for any restraining orders!), and we’re certainly not suggesting you do anything malicious or harmful to them.

However, selling what your potential customers think they need but then giving them what they really need, is a sure fire way to make your business invaluable. We talked about this subject in an earlier blog post too.

How does this all work? What powerful offering do you have that your customers don’t know they need? What is it they think they need instead?

Anna goes into detail in the video at the top of this post, with examples of how it’s worked for our clients and ourselves.
